Day From Hell

Just one of those days...

Had planned on taking a vacation day and go into to Air Force today but I promised one of our networks that we support that I would come to their breakfast meeting and setup the laptop and projector. Since we had the day off yesterday because the City of Pointe Claire turned off the water to our complex the offices were closed. I didn't really want to take two days off in a row.

Left the apt just after 7am, got halfway out to the West Island when I realized I left my lunch on the counter.

I got to the hotel, dragged out all of the stuff out of the car including my bassoon since I had a FACE orchestra rehearsal right after work and headed up to the conference room. I get there and two people are already setting up a laptop and projector. Great. That all works, they invited me to stay but already being in a foul mood I said no thanks, have too much work to do and headed to work.

Picked up some gas and Tim Horton's bagel and cream cheese and got into the office. Had 5 messages on my answering machine from yesterday, all hangups. Took car of some emails and other things then syarted work on adding the monthly conferences to the above group's website.

Had to do a couple of corrections to the event template. In all should have only taken about half an hour or hour but ended up taking 5 hours. What could go wrong went wrong.

Had some nuts and a quraer of an apple left over from last night (first night of Photoshop course at Concordia) for my lunch. Had a bit of fustration with programmer of the portal site along the way also who seems to think that since he understands the way something works that everyone should or they should adapt to his thinking. Problem is, sometimes this does not work for the average internet user so it creates useability issues. Sigh, thought these type of problems were over with when we dumped Intercollab. Oh well...

Anyway, planning on leaving work a little earlier than the time I usually leave to go to the rehearsal so that I can grab something to eat before the rehearsal (the lunch bag left on the counter also contained an apple to hold me off until after the rehearsal) when I get an email from my sister saying that she has some papers I have to sign and to send her the fax number at work and my number because she will call me when she is ready to fax. It's now 3:15. Ok, send that stuff off and start prepping o leave. Go in the back to give a book back, go back to my office and the phone is blinking. It's here telling me to send an email for to send the fax. By this time it's 3:40.

Send the email, fart around with a few things, make copious trips to reception with no sign of fax. Setup the projector for another meeting at the office, still no fax. Now it is after 4:00pm. Send another email saying that if I don't receive the fax with the next 15 minutes it will have to wait until tomorrow.

4:14, no fax. Pack all of my stuff, packsack, laptop, bassoon, and head out to car. Get to car, can't find keys. Walk back in to office expecting the keys to be on my desk, no keys. Pull packsack apart, no keys. Even my spare key wasn't there (go figure). Even though I opened the trunk after I closed off the main door still checked the ignition, no keys. Checked everywhere around my desk, no keys. No fax, No keys. Check the other rooms I have been in today atwork, no keys.

At 4:50 call CAA. Figured I must have somehow dropped the keys in the trunk while getting all my junk out. They said about a half hour wait. Someone at work offered me a ride into town to a metro station. Waited about 25 minutes, no fax, no keys, no CAA, ne rehearsal.

Checked email, there is an email from my sister saying tried to fax but got busy signal. Strange because while I was waiting the fax machine was not in use. Says will send it in the morning. grrrrrrrr

At 5:30 called CAA to cancel the service and took ride into town. Will take metro into work in morning with spare car key.

6:30, poured a large glass of rose wine although I am thinking I need something stronger.

Tomorrow has to be better......

Ahoy, matey!

It's that time of year again, arrrrrr. Talk Like a Pirate Day
This is my pirate name:

My pirate name is:

Mad Charity Vane

Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You tend to blend into the background occaisionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!

Get your own pirate name from fidius.org.
