oh, how I hate public institutions sometimes.
I'm going to Dawson College right now full time night and evenings (I know, I'm far behind on the blog, more about this later). As a full time student I can be relieved of my student loan payments (and interest) during this period. I have a form that nees to be filled out by the Registrar or appropriate authority at the financial assistance office. I checked the hours of the Registrar office one evening when I was in for a class and its hours are 8:30 to 5. Great, exactly my working hours 45 minutes away.
So I finally this morning was good time to go in, actually find a parking spot and get to the Registrar office by 10 to 9. Lady says I have to go to the financial aid office. I walk to financial aid office, they don't open til 9:30. Walk back to the Registrar office. Point out government paper says Registara office. She goes away, comes back and says it will be free if you go to the financial office at 9:30 but we have to charge you 5.00. I said ok, here's 5.00, I'm taking time off from work to do this. She says it will be a few days, what do you mean a few days? There is maybe three things to fill out on the form, maybe takes 2 minutes max? Anyway she gets on the phone, comes back and says it will be 10 bucks for a rush job and take 2 days. So I really have no choice but to wait for the financial aid off to open (and a chance to vent here while waiting)
What is with people? I work at a place where we provide a public service and I don't think anyone would be blackmailed to wait or forced to come back days later for a signature and a stamp.
More on this later but now have to get to financial aid office for 9:30 so I can then continue on my merrie way to work
Sept 1, that psychological barrier that says summer is over. Where did the time go? All those things I wanted to do this remain undone.
There may welll be a few more nice days but for the most part this is it. Back into the swing of things, the course has started, everyone is back in the office again and the weekly team meeting have started up again.
Soon it will be time to put snow tires on the car!
