Rainy Sunday

It's been raining all day here. Guess that should make it more condusive to doing some research on modifying the blog but there are always other things to waste time on. Spend way too much time reading other blogs. So easy to get side tracked.

Still checking into flights to London. Both Air Canada and British Air have seat sales til next week. I prefer to fly BA but the date of the trip completion, supposedly, is 7 April but when I plug the dates of 7 April to 27 April into the fare calculator I seem to still get the sale price. I need to check into this a bit more next week.

Exciting thing is that Ryan Air, one of the cheapie airlines running out of London, has just started daily service to the old Canadian airfield in Baden, Germany AND a quick check of a couple of dates gives the grand cost of 5 pounds each way! Depending on what Bev and Fraser decide on for vacation when I go over I might be able to pop over to Germany for a few days. I haven't visited there sine 93.

Well, back to blogging research.

Another day, another meeting, another problem

Well, as promised my newly minted advertisemobile.
vwwestisland.jpg

Work started out with problems from Intercollab, as usual. This is followed by SAJE people bugging me to set up the projector for their presentation while I am still online with Cedric in Switzerland. Then Karla walks in the office to say she keeps getting a message on her computer. Check it out and sure enough she has a virus. Yesterday she got the fake Microsoft update email and installed the "patch" dispite the fact I have repeated several time to the office warnings about not following instructions in emails. I had to scrub that out, install an updated version of anti-virus software, run updates then run a couple of scans. Meanwhile the stagiaires are twiddling their thumbs while Nicolas is trying to fix the French grammer check problem on Gerrys machine.

We were barely able to catch our breath when it was suddenly noon and we had a lunch meeting with Chris Murray and My Nydam to talk about the portal.

After lunch (a long lunch) we moved the office around to bring the stagiaires in with us so they aren't so isolated on the other side of the office. Hopefully we will be able to satisfy their eagerness.

Talk about Embarassing! We always go to all the Chamber of Commerce dos. They always collect business cards for a draw and Nicolle is always telling me to put my card in. So tonight as usual I put my card in and sure enough, I win! A $50 gift certificate from jewellery store in Dorval. Louise took a picture so I'll see if I can get hold of it and post it. Apents the rest of the cocktail extolling the virtures of the portal site.

Yet another long day at the CLD, one of these days I'll be able to spend a bit more time getting this blog set up to do what I want it do which is who knows. So many things you can do with this program. I want to get the category thing going and links.

Sigh......one of these days...

Long Day

Today was a very long day, the type I really dislike. I will probably end up spending the rest of the week trying to recover.

When I first arrived at the office I had to make sure Nicolas and gang got off ok with all the equipment and such to go over to the Holiday Inn to set up for the business show. Then I had to set everything up and then teach the Internet and Computers course for the STA candidates. That meant 3 hours on my feet and talking constantly.

Finished with that then inhaled some lunch and hopped over to the Holiday Inn.

Then spent the next 7 hours talking up the portal site and commercialization project. A lot of positive feedback and forms filled but it's going to be a long process if we can't get the funding to buy those lists. All that time on my feet which are now very pained.

There was a printing company there and for 5 bucks were putting vinyl lettering on windshields so I had www.westisland.ca put on my back windshield. Tomorrow I'll post a photo of my cheap advertising. The printer also had fantastic pricing for business and post cards. I am expecting a quote in the next couple of days concerning bookmarks for the portal.

I bought my camera in order to take pictures of our display but was just too busy spreading the gospel to use it.

So now I am home and my feet are throbbing. Not looking forward to the next few days because that means wrangling with Intercollab on the business directory functions. Sigh.

Tomorrow is going to be another long day as I have the Chamber AG to go to afterwork to do what I hate most, networking. I have to start spreading the word about the business directory. At least there will be munchies and drinks!

Bed time......

real Info

Today is when I really start to use this thing as I learn the functionality of it and try to start using it as a tool for web development. I keep doing Google searches to find out more info such as new stylesheets and hacks.

Today I was looking into seeing if there is a way to submit articles by email. I believe there is but I got side tracked by a site where this person it using MT to content manage his whole site. There is a ot of good info there.

So Form Follows Function is my first linked site.

I will start adding categories and such in order to find this info a lot easier when I come back in 6 months as oppossed to having to go through 3000+ emails in my inbox.
